Exams, Therapies, and Consultations

Nasoendoscopy, Nasolaryngoscopy, and Laryngeal Stroboscopy

Arrive 20 minutes before the examination.
2 hours of fasting (During this time, the patient should not eat or drink anything, including water).
Bring a valid authorization and copayment if applicable.

Polysomnography

Arrive 20 minutes before the appointment.
Bring a valid authorization, medical order, and copayment if applicable.
You must come one day before, during office hours from Monday to Friday, to our main branch in the Conquistadores neighborhood to sign the informed consent for the examination.
Men should preferably bring pajamas. Also bring the exam order, medical history, and copayment.
The authorization must be addressed to Clínica Orlant.
If a CPAP titration will be performed, remember to bring the report from the previous polysomnography, if it was performed at a different sleep laboratory than Clínica Orlant.
Men should preferably bring short pajama pants; if not available, bring shorts and a t-shirt.
Women should bring pajamas with capri pants and a front-button shirt, preferably with a V-neck.
Do not consume coffee, Coca-Cola, tea, or energy drinks 6 hours before the exam.
Do not consume alcohol or psychoactive substances 24 hours before the exam.
If you take prescribed medication for any condition (diabetes, asthma, hypertension, thyroid disorders, COPD), take it at your regular schedule.
If you have any respiratory condition that requires inhalers, bring them on the day of the exam.

Evaluation of the Vestibulo-Ocular Motor Reflex

Video Head Impulse Test – VHIT: This examination lasts approximately 1 hour.

Arrive with 2 hours of fasting.
Minimum age: 10 years old.
Do not consume alcohol or hallucinogens 48 hours prior to the test.
Attend with a companion regardless of the patient’s age.
Do not wear makeup, false eyelashes, hair creams, gels, or any hair products; if hair is long, it must be tied back in a ponytail with an elastic band.
Hair must be dry and clean; do not arrive with wet hair.
Do not take any medication prescribed for vertigo or dizziness during the 21 days prior to the test, including Ginkgo Biloba, Vertigoheel, ginger, oregano, balsamina, Dimenhydrinate, Dramamine, Mareol, Pasedol, Betahistine, Verum, Vertix, Betaserc, Vertigen, Verix, Meclizine, Vertinon, Nimodipine, or Flunarizine.
No eyebrow or eyelid piercings are allowed.
Patients with significant visual impairment cannot undergo this test; if vision is only present in one eye, the test can be partially performed.
If you have undergone eye surgery, cervical spine (neck) surgery, or rhinoplasty within the last six months, the test may not be performed.
If the patient uses hearing aids, they must bring them to the appointment.
